Thank God for the Thermogram Report
In 2004, when we first met Sandy’s Mexican dentist, we asked if he used a Cavitat machine and he said “No.” He said he was familiar with it but did not feel confident that anyone he knew could use it properly. We said we understood because of Sandy’s experience with a Cavitat exam in 2001.
At an appointment with him on September 19, 2005, because she complained that she still had pain in her face and pain and swelling in her body (breasts especially), the dentist took digital X-rays of her mouth and showed us on a computer screen how well her jawbone was healing. He showed us the X-rays he took in September 2004, and the ones he took in March 2005 and compared them to each other and to the ones he took that day. We could see that the bone was filling in beautifully and there were no areas where it had gotten worse. At that time Sandy did not have her new dentures and the pain in her face was thought to be caused by her old dentures not fitting well and that the nerve from which he removed the infected collagen in March 2005 was being irritated every time she chewed her food and therefore, it had not had the opportunity to heal completely.
In November 2005 she finally picked up her new dentures (which she loves, by the way). At that time he assured her that her facial pain was “healing pain” and by using her new dentures the nerve in her jawbone would heal.
At her recent appointment (July 14, 2006) when he said he wanted Sandy to have a Cavitat Examination we wondered why he hadn’t asked Sandy to have it done earlier (if he had found a Cavitat technician that he trusts and is now sending his patients for Cavitat examinations).
Well, we thought, no matter, we just thank God we sent him the Thermogram Report.
Then, when we came back to his office with the Cavitat Report (and because he thought he had already operated in Sandy’s back lower left jawbone area) he looked through her record. When he saw that he had not operated there before, he said, “Yes, there is a lot of dead bone in that area, lets make an appointment for you.”
So, now we are praying that he will agree to operate on the other area that the Cavitat Report shows has dead bone, because he did not mention that site on Friday (we looked at our copy of the Cavitat Report on our trip back to Walnut Creek and saw the small area of dead bone in her upper right jawbone). According to my notes he has not operated there before, and every place where he has operated so far has healed beautifully.
According to Sandy’s osteomyelitis doctor osteomyelitis of the jawbone often reoccurs after all the cavitations have been removed. We believe this is because American dentists have not been trained to get all of the infected and dead bone out.
