25,000 IU of Vitamin D can be toxic to adults if taken over a prolonged period. Vitamin D toxicity can be largely prevented by generous amounts of vitamins C, E, or cholin. It is made far worse by a deficiency of vitamin E or magnesium; either deficiency causes large amounts of calcium to be laid down in soft tissues.
